How to Set a Video as Wallpaper on Your Samsung Phone

Make your Samsung Galaxy phone stand out with video wallpapers. Here’s how to set a video as your wallpaper.

Changing your wallpaper is one of the best ways to make your phone look new and exciting again. After all, it’s the first thing you look at after pulling out your phone and unlocking it.

Whatever style you prefer, you can always find a wallpaper that suits you and represents how you feel. But sometimes a static wallpaper is not enough.

So, let’s get creative and see how you can set video as lock screen and home screen wallpaper on your Samsung device.

How to set a video as your lock screen wallpaper

You don’t need any third party app to set a video as your lock screen wallpaper. You can do this directly from the Samsung Gallery app. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Open the Samsung Gallery app and select the desired video.
  2. Tap the three dots menu and select Set as wallpaper > Lock screen.
  3. If your video is too long, tap the scissors icon to trim it to 15 seconds or less, then tap Do. Note that live video wallpapers cannot exceed 100MB.
  4. When finished, press Set on lock screenand you are good to go.

The video you set will automatically play when you lock your Samsung Galaxy phone and head to the lock screen.

How to set a video as your home screen wallpaper

Setting a video as your home screen wallpaper is slightly more complicated than setting it for the lock screen. To do this, you will need to download an additional application.

For Galaxy devices, you can use Samsung Good Lock; it is an all-in-one personalization app from Samsung. It does not come pre-installed on Samsung devices, but you can get it from the Galaxy Store.

Once downloaded, follow the steps below. Note that the process is somewhat of a workaround; The app does not allow you to directly set videos as your home screen wallpaper.

  1. Launch Good Lock and find the Wonderland module under the Family menu. By tapping on the module, the app will redirect you to the Galaxy Store, where you can install it.
  2. Open Wonderland and press New > Gallery and select an image; don’t worry, it won’t be visible in the final result.
  3. Press the layer application button at the bottom right of your screen and select Video. Choose the desired video from your gallery, adjust its duration and tap Do. The video will appear above the image you chose earlier. Simply resize the video to fully cover the screen preview, then tap to safeguard. Give this custom preset a name and press to safeguard Again.
  4. Once done, you will see a preview of your video wallpaper. If you are satisfied with the result, press Set as wallpaperthen select whether you want to apply it only to the home screen or to the home and lock screens.
  5. If you’re not happy with the end result, you can always go back to the Wonderland module and edit your saved preset.

Make sure your video has sufficient resolution and is in the correct dimensions before setting it as wallpaper, otherwise the result may appear blurry. For example, if your phone has a QHD screen and you are using video with Full HD resolution, the wallpaper may look unpleasant.
