VERICUT software version 9.3 for smarter machining

CGTech has released VERICUT version 9.3. VERICUT is the industry leader in machine simulation, verification and optimization for CNC machining, additive manufacturing and hybrid manufacturing processes. The software works independently, but also integrates with all major CAM systems.

VERICUT 9.3 focuses on creating “smarter” and more efficient manufacturing processes with features that bring data around the machine, tools, and inventory to improve simulation and the overall manufacturing workflow. Improvements have been made to strengthen VERICUT, including better collision checking, increased axis limit per subsystem, etc. Cutting tool data in the tool performance database and machine monitoring are just some of the notable changes in this release. Hundreds of customer-focused changes and improvements have also been addressed in this latest release.

“VERICUT 9.3 delivers smarter data for smarter manufacturing, giving our customers a ‘cutting edge’,” said Gene Granata, director of product management. “With enriched machining measurements, forced feedrate, and tool deflection optimization, this latest version of VERICUT creates the most optimized, yet safe-to-run NC programs for any CNC machine. .”

“In version 9.3, Tool Manager connects users with online tooling sources and tool databases to import ‘smart’ cutting tools with corresponding data for correct use. A new tool performance database allows even non-machinists to choose the appropriate feeds and speeds for cutting a variety of common materials,” Granata continues. “All of this intelligence helps programmers use and optimize cutting tools as intended, avoiding broken cutters and potential damage to parts or CNC machines.”

VERICUTVERICUT Force’s built-in optimization module also received additional features and enhancements in version 9.3. Along with improvements to basic features and functionality, deflection calculations have changed to account for the entire rotary tool, where previous versions only represented solid round tools with toolholders. This change in deflection, together with cutting tool data and base material information, improves the surface finish of the part, ensures the part meets proper dimensions, and extends the life of the cutter .

“We’ve seen up to 40% more tool life and 30-40% savings in machining cycle time using VERICUT Force,” said Jason Mills, director of engineering at Advanced Manufacturing, Ltd. (AML). “The module is invaluable to our production work as it gives us a competitive advantage. It’s quite easy to understand. We simply select the material from the database and enter the cutter geometry, which we get from the tooling manufacturer. Force then does its calculations in the background.
